Making Open Data work

On the 20th of May the LGA ran in Leeds a “Making Open Data work” learning event, designed for local authorities involved in Open Data projects so that they could share their experiences, learn from good practice, develop further capabilities and debate about future directions and opportunities for their projects.

The agenda of the day included talks, roundtable discussions and Open Data case studies. Main topics discussed during the event were focused around barriers to publishing Open Data, how to make better use of data, the Open Data cases of Birmingham, Greater Manchester, Leeds, York and Sheffield.

Representing York Open Data platform, Ian Cunningham, Group Manager of the Shared Intelligence Bureau at the City of York Council, talked about how the Council has approached the initial stage of its Open Data project. If you’d like to find out more about it, please read through the copy of the presentation attached.
