Update on York Open Data’s Release Road Map
City of York Council continues to work with partners, businesses and residents on their data release requests. In order to let people know what datasets may be available in the current months, we continue to publish road maps of datasets we would hope to release.
In the last six months, we have released the majority of datasets we published on the previous roadmap, with the exceptions of live “Car Park” data, a “Refuse and Recycling Collection Lookup” and “Air Pollution” data. We are continuing to try and release this information.
During this last period, we have released a number of datasets that weren’t reflected on that initial road map. We’ve gone from 291 datasets in June 2015, to 446 datasets by the end of 2015. Examples of these new additions are “Population Projections”, a number of Schools’ related datasets, and a variety of new Performance Indicators.
We have also decided to release to the York Open Data platform the raw anonymised data collected in a number of resident and business consultations, which you can find within a new “Consultation” topic, as well as some of the open-source software the Council’s IT department has created in the “Software” topic. Over the next six months, we hope to expand both sections, as well as add new information to the “Metadata” section – the data about data.
Therefore, in the next 6 months, on the York Open Data platform we aim to:
• Release more INSPIRE compliant datasets
• Release more geospatial data
• Quarterly update of Key Performance Indicators
• Work with external partners to release environmental data
• Release of Transparency data
• Regular updates of all existing datasets as new data becomes available
• Release of transport data
If you would like to discuss the potential release of any information or discuss how we can improve the platform or the quality of the data held within it, please contact us at info@yorkopendata.org
